OBITUARY Ruth E. Atchley July 25, 1925 – October 2, 2018 Ruth Elizabeth “Hoopey” Simpkins Atchley, 93, of Pell City, AL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Oct 2, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband Cliff, sons Cliff Jr and Cleve Atchley and grandson Clint Atchley. She is survived by her daughters Crystal Hubertus of Texas and Cinderella Forney (Russ) of South Dakota, her Daughters in law Paula Atchley of Georgia and Laura Atchley of Florida, 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Ruth was born in Pell City, AL on July 25, 1925 as the youngest of 9 children. Throughout her life she lived in many places including Pell City, AL, Sylacauga, AL, Tallahassee, FL and she eventually retired in Pell City, AL. She was a loving wife and mother.

She always enjoyed being involved with all the activities her children participated in. She loved animals, especially her poodles. Ruth loved to sew and make crafts and loved it even more when it was for someone else.

She enjoyed traveling and collected rocks from every place she went. She also collected figurines, plates and pictures of her family. Ruth was a loving person.

Everyone was welcome in her home. She was a strong, compassionate and forgiving woman. In 2007 when she was struck by a disease that left her bed ridden she never complained about her circumstances and always looked forward to the future.

She was grateful for everyone who took care of her and always made sure to thank them, tell them to be safe, tell them she loved them and to come back soon. She was deeply loved and will be truly missed. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 6 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Tallahassee, Florida. Condolences may be offered to the Atchley family online at www.
