Ruth Marie Graham, age 92 years young, passed away at her home in Munford, Alabama on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, she was a 50 year resident of Pascagoula with her husband, Rayford E. “Jack” Graham. Mrs. Graham was born in 1926 in Poplarville, Mississippi.

She was the oldest of the five children of Henry and Gladys Howard. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Henry E. “Jackie” Graham and two of her siblings: Doris Creel and Henry Albert Howard.

She is survived by her daughter Prudence Johnson; her sister Laura Nan Hallgren and her brother Curtis Robert Howard; her 4 grandchildren: Victoria Wheeler, Henry Graham, Alexandra Thompson, and William Graham; her 6 great-chandchildren: Alexa, Madisen, Mattie, Graham, Sasha, and Ruby; and her many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Graham was an avid reader. She read two newspapers every day.

When she was done with the papers, you might find her reading the biography of a favorite musician or historical figure, or a book about Native American History and Culture, a subject she was interested in throughout her entire life. On Saturdays you would often find her watching college football, especially if Alabama was playing. On Sundays, she might be watching Nascar.

She was famous for her bourbon balls, chicken and dumplings, and gumbo. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, 4007 Main St., Moss Point, MS, 39563.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 9:30 am, with a chapel service to follow starting at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
