Ruth Virginia Schultz, age 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 14, 2019. Daughter of Henry A. Dipman and Emma R. Schoen of Detroit Michigan, Ruth was the youngest of four children. Her father died while Ruth was still a child entering her early teens.

As her sisters, Winnifred and Dorothy and her brother Paul went off to college and careers, Ruth was left to care for her mother and went to work at an early age while still attending class. Upon graduating from High School, Ruth obtained a position with Detroit Edison as a stenographer and administrative assistant. For the next six years she lived with and supported her mother until she met her future husband, Warren Schultz, and married at age 24 in the year 1949.

As a child of the Great Depression, Ruth knew the value of hard work and careful spending and her husband shared those same values. Two years after they wed Ruth and Warren started a family with four children, Dale, Donald, Kathleen and Douglas. The family lived in East Detroit Michigan until 1967 and then moved to Farmington Hills, where Ruth and Warren remained until Warren’s passing in 2008.

In addition to her immediate family, Ruth is succeeded by six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Ruth and Warren enjoyed a wonderful life together, forever in love and the closest of companions in friendship. They were deeply devoted to their church and their values and actions were irreproachable throughout their years of marriage.

After the youngest child left home for college Ruth found work at Crowley’s department store and then devoted her time as a volunteer at Botsford Hospital in Farmington where she served for many years. Ruth will always be remembered for her strength of character, her love for her husband and family, her care and service to others, and for her stoic and undemanding demeanor through to her last days. She will be deeply missed by her family and all her friends and acquaintances that loved Ruth for her kindness and sense of humor and respected Ruth for her courage and conviction.

May she enjoy peace and solace in heaven upon being reunited with Warren. A memorial serve will be held for Ruth at noon on February 24th, at: William Sullivan and Son Funeral Home 8459 Hall Rd.
