Rutha Brooke Halstead, age 88, of Madison, WV passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 after a short illness. She was born March 13, 1931 to the late Rathburn and Emma Miller in Turtle Creek, WV. She was one of 12 children.

Brooke was married to the late Loxley Halstead for 50 years, and together they had five children. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as a devoted employee of Westmoreland Coal for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Mae (Bob) Baldridge of Nashville, TN; sons Eddie Halstead (Pam) of Uneeda, WV, Johnny Halstead (Penny) of Madison, WV, Donald Halstead of Danville, WV, and Richard Halstead (Alice) of Brentwood TN; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and sister, Imarea Miller of Madison, WV.

Funeral services will be held at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Johnny Barker will officiate. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Mud River.
