Samuel Owen Jeter, 83, of210 Lodge Drive, Greenwood, husband of Martha Sue Dillard Jeter, died Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont. Born in Nashville, TN, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mildred Jones Jeter. Samuel was a retired U. S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean War and Vietnam.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #91 AFM, 32 Degree in Greenville, Hejaz Shriner and American Legion Post #20. Samuel was a member of Bold Spring Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Swift; a sister Jackie Huggins; and a granddaughter, Jerilyn Kapers.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Gwendolyn Hotchkiss, Peggy Ackerman, Dee Koerber, JoAnna Hopkins, Samantha Hallman and Honey Gadsey; a sister, Betty Nicholas; ten grandchildren; ten of great grandchildren; and seven of great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Thursday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Keller officiating.
