Sammie R. Bruce, 72 of Rockford, IL passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. Sammie was born in Hernshaw, WV on January 26, 1946, son of Thomas and Dorothy (Price) Bruce. He graduated East Bank High School, Class of 1963 in Chesapeake, WV.

Sammie was a simple man who truly enjoyed life itself. He especially enjoyed bowling, watching sports and had a special love for birds. He was also a softball coach when his children were growing up.

He is survived… Read More » by his wife, Dale (Sharp) Bruce; children, Richard and Shania Bruce; grandchildren, Abigail and Alex Bruce; sister, Shirley Perry of Marmet, WV and sister-in-law, Carol Bruce. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Bill, Frankie and Joe Bruce; one sister, Geri Anderson.

To honor the wishes of Sammie Bruce, there will be no public services held. Cremation rites will be accorded. Arrangements entrusted to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel.
