Sandra’s Obituary On Thursday, January 31, 2019, Sandra M. (Kane) MacIntyre-Nelson, 73 of Green Bay, WI, passed away gracefully at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Sandie was born on September 16, 1945, and grew up in Maribel, WI, on the dairy farm of her parents, the late Jerome and Eleanor (Grimm) Kane. Sandie graduated from Denmark High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from UW-Oshkosh.
Upon graduation, Sandie taught grade school at Cormier School in Ashwaubenon, WI, before marrying Peter MacIntyre and raising son, Andrew (Shauna) MacIntyre, Colgate, WI, and daughter Amy MacIntyre, Washington, DC. They spent 37 wonderful years together traveling the world (China, Germany, Australia, etc. ), raising a family and enjoying time with (and spoiling) their grandchildren Austin and Paige, before Peter passed away in 2007.
Sandie was blessed to find a kind, loving and supportive partner again in Larry Nelson of Green Bay, WI. They were married in 2014, and enjoyed dining out with friends, spending winters in Texas and visiting with Larry’s children, Laurie (Ken) Buckeye, Minneapolis; Mark (Deb) Nelson, River Falls, WI; and Lisa (Steve) Gundersen, Sparta, NJ; as well as, grandchildren, Katharyn, Stephen, John, Michael, Erik and Anna. A longtime member of Resurrection Church in Allouez and an active participant in Service League, Antiquarian Society, P.E.O., Wednesday Night Square Dance Club, Birthday Club and “The Divas”, Sandie cherished the friends she made while helping those less fortunate.
Sandie was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother who loved reading, collecting recipes, going to estate sales, cooking, working part-time at Younker’s (for the discount! ), eating sweets, traveling and shopping (sell your Talbots and Chicos stock! ).
She enjoyed a rich and full life and always felt blessed having a wonderful and loving group of family and friends around her. Her Sandiesms (e.g. – “Weigh the rabbit”; “Love you to pieces”; “Clean plate club”; “His (or her) best parts must be covered”) will live-on through her family members.
