OBITUARY Sandra “Sandy” L. Staskal-Modloff October 11, 1958 – September 12, 2018 Sandra L. “Sandy” Staskal-Modloff, 59, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Sandy blessed this world on October 11, 1958 in Carbondale, Illinois, the daughter of Russell and Valencia (Bickler) Byerly. Sandy worked in the service industry for most of her life.

During that time she made many friends and impacted many lives with her strong and positive attitude. One of Sandy’s last wishes was to marry the love of her life, Dennis Modloff. Her wish was granted on September 8, 2018.

She was passionate about music and it was a huge part of her life and her “rock and roll” attitude. Attending concerts was one of her favorite pastimes, with Molasses Malone being at the top of her list. Closest to her heart, Sandy held her family which included her dogs Jaxx and Tank.

Sandy is loved and will be missed by her husband Dennis Modloff; sons: Jerry (Anna Lisa Lord) Bunders and Tommy (Jessica Cedillo) Wilson; step-son: Cole Staskal; grandchildren: Jerome, Sean and Lily Bunders; mother: Valencia Byerly; siblings: Rebecca (Aaron) Paradise, Russell Byerly and Doug Byerly; nieces and nephews: Brooke, Lauren, Kyle and Claire; her fur children Jaxx and Tank. She was preceded in death by her father Russell. A memorial gathering will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a time of sharing at 6:00 p.m. Cremation rites have been accorded.
