OBITUARY Santa González Peña May 2, 1936 – September 19, 2018 Santa González Peña, 82, of Corpus Christi, TX, went home to our Lord, on September 19, 2018. She was surrounded by all of her children during her journey to our Heavenly Father. She was the most amazing, strong, faith-filled and Godly mother, wife, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend to so many.

Santa was born on May 2, 1936, in Petronilla, TX to Julio & Santos (Ruiz) González. She graduated from Robstown High School in 1954, having served as a cheerleader and as a member of the Cottonpicker Band and also attended Del Mar College. Her work career began as a secretary for a law firm.

She also worked as a hairdresser, a real estate agent and then transitioned to retail management where she retired from K-Mart as personnel manager after 25+ years of service. Santa was an active member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, serving our Lord with her time and talents. During retirement Mom loved spending time with her husband and family, especially her 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

She lived a beautiful life and has left a God filled legacy through her actions, children and family. She was an experienced traveler and made many memories going on numerous trips with her family and friends to places like Lourdes, France, Garner State Park, Disney World, Cayman Islands, Las Vegas, Ruidoso, Louisiana, New York, Lake Tahoe, Rome, Italy, Mexico City, Belize, Honduras, Cozumel, Jamaica, and Georgia. She enjoyed being with her friends from church, attending retreats, participating in her prayer groups, and going on pilgrimages.

She was very active working out at the YWCA, doing Yoga, Tai Chi, and water aerobics. She enjoyed sports and were her children and grandchildren’s greatest fan. She loved music and enjoyed dancing.

In her spare time, she loved working in her garden, playing cards with her friends, going to the gameroom, and solving Sudoku puzzles. She is survived by her children Sylvia (Ramiro) Lara, Sandra Garza, Orlando Ocañas, Richard Ocañas (Dana Garrett), Lisa (Charles) Perez, her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jermaine), Alexander (Krista), Stephanie, Katherine, Matthew, Sabrina, Anthony, Elizabeth (Brandon), Jonathan, BreeAnna (Brian), Ashley, Mallory, Xavier, Amarilisa; great-grandchildren Zander, Colston, Max, Ace, Caiden, and Andrew; her brother Lauro (Margarita) González, and her sisters Pura Garcia, Olga (Higinio) Salazar, Ultima (Lorenzo) Perez, her sister-in-law Virgina González and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Julio & Santos González, her husband, Raul G. Peña, her brothers Pioquinto González & Oleomar González, her sister Elida Vasquez, brother-in-law Julio Garcia and sister-in-law Mary Alice González.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-9 pm on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery 8200 Old Brownsville Road. The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be prayed at 6pm followed by the rosary at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 10 am at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church 3502 Saratoga Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX.

Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens.
