Sara’s Obituary Sara Edwards Armstrong, 47, mother, wife, sister, aunt, friend, and elementary schoolteacher, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019. Sara was born August 12, 1971 in Loris, SC and was raised in Columbus County, NC. She lived in Lumberton, NC with her husband, Rob Armstrong, and her precious daughters, Abby (17) and Cecilia (14).

Her family was her joy and her heart. She unfailingly focused on their lives until her final moments. Sara was a 1989 graduate of West Columbus High School and earned her degree in education from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington.

She served as an elementary schoolteacher in the NC public school system and Southeastern Academy Charter School until October 2017. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Floyd Edwards of Chadbourn, NC. She is survived by her husband, Rob, and daughters, Abby and Cecilia; her mother, Hilda White of Whiteville, NC; two sisters, Teresa Sellers and husband Mark of Whiteville, NC and Pam Hammonds of Cerro Gordo, NC; and two nephews, Matt Sellers and family of Wilmington, NC and Landon Sellers and family of Whiteville, NC.

She is also survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Jane Armstrong of Bladenboro, NC; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Craig and Carrie Banks of Montgomery, AL. A time of visitation will take place prior to the service on Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 2:30-3:30 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton. Following the visitation, a brief service will be held at 3:30 PM.

Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Bladenboro, NC. Pallbearers include Matt Sellers, Landon Sellers, Mark Sellers, Steve Edwards, Carey White, Robert Armstrong, Sr., and Kelly Baldwin. In leu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America, 15 S. Franklin Street, New Ulm, MN 56073, to further the fight to eradicate lung cancer.
