Obituary for Sara Woods (Markham) Sara Markham Woods died Friday, June 8, 2018 in Amherst, Texas at the age of 95 years, 7 months and 16 days. She was born October 22, 1922 in Farmersville, Texas to Reed P. and Mary (Mason) Markham. Sara had lived in the Sudan area since 1932.

She graduated from Sudan High School in 1939 and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Sara was active in the USO service organization providing games, meals and dancing partners for the servicemen during World War II. This was a very rewarding experience for her.

She then became a nanny and babysitter in the Lubbock area. She moved to Denver, Colorado and then to Albuquerque, New Mexico working for a car dealership, before ending up back at Sudan, working at First National Bank of Sudan for 27 years. After retiring, Sara drove to Lubbock to work as a greeter for City Bank.

She was always a people person. Sara is preceded in death by her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Pill) and Waymon Bellar; and her brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Marge Markham. Sara is survived by her three nephews, Mike Bellar and his wife, D’Anne, Jerry Bellar and his wife, Pam and Roger Bellar and his wife, Kay; her niece, Mary Ann Harper and her husband, Craig; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
