Obituary for Scott Phillip Conklin Scott Phillip Conklin 1934 – 2018 Scott Phillip Conklin died peacefully in his Vallejo home on September 25, 2018, from Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia. He was born on July 23, 1934, the oldest of two children born to Walter and Eulalia (Ruff) Conklin. They and his sister, Darlene Bowers, preceded him in death.

He graduated in 2012 in a special ceremony for veterans who left school to join the military before they graduated. Scott is survived by Lynda Bell Conklin, his loving wife of 31 years, and five children: Christina Murray (Buzz); Tim Conklin (Karin); Vicki Butler; Jeffrey Bell (Kristina); and Cheryl Bell (Jamie). 26 Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren also survive him.

Scott served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1953 on an ocean going tug. He was proud of his service and wore his Korean Veterans hat with pride. He was a well known figure in the automotive world for more than 60 years as owner of Scotty’s Muffler Shop in Napa, CA and as owner-operator of a private nationwide trailer hauling service.

Scott was an aficionado of the 1937-38 Chevrolet and restored or rebuilt 107 of those models. His Chevrolets were frequent trophy winners at car shows across the country. Scott and Lynda traveled from Washington DC to Hawaii and Alaska and toured to Australia, New Zealand, Panama and Central America together.

In recent years he was a member of the Walnut Creek Creakers, a team in the senior (50-90) softball league. Scott was a great fan of parlor games and established and hosted, with Lynda, an annual Bunco Party for 12 years. He will be missed.

A memorial service and military honors will be held 2 PM Saturday, October 20 at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee St., Vallejo.
