Obituary of Sebastian SanFilippo Sebastian J. SanFilippo, “Busty Phillips”, 82, of Lakewood, died Saturday October 13, 2018, in his home. An area resident all of his life, he was born October 24, 1935, in Jamestown, a son of the late Giacomo and Sebastiana SanFilippo. He attended Jamestown High School and served in the United States Navy.

He lived for his family. From taking his daughters along on wrecker calls, to attending every sporting event his grandchildren were in, sometimes 3 different sports in one day. He was a devoted husband and father who taught his girls everything they know, from taking care of cars to using every tool imaginable.

To his wife and daughters, there will never be another man as loving and devoted as he. Busty, a certified mechanic and entrepreneur, started Phillips Kar Port, the first Buy here/Pay here pre-owned car lot in the state. He owned and operated Phillips Service Center, a wrecker/towing and auto repair shop, Jamestown Auto Clinic, a large truck and transmission shop, along with Phillips Mini/Maxi storage units.

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a member of Ira Lou Spring Post 149 American Legion, Jamestown Moose Lodge, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and Circulus Club. His other interests include golfing at Maplehurst Country Club and collecting model cars.

His family wishes to thank the Veteran’s Administration, Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care and personal caregivers Kanisha and Leanne for the wonderful and compassionate attention they gave Busty during his illness. Surviving are his wife RoseMarie Adams SanFilippo, whom he married July 5, 1958; daughter Karen SanFilippo of Lakewood and her children Nicholas Austin of Tampa, FL, Daniel Austin of Clermont, FL and Kendyl Austin of Lakewood; daughter Kelly SanFilippo and husband Randy Derby of Lakewood and their children Olivia Derby of Berlin, Germany, Jacob, Colton and Elijah Derby all of Lakewood. Great grandchildren Kasper Schmincke of Berlin, Germany and Aurora Worden of Silver Creek, NY; daughter Kim SanFilippo of Orlando, FL and her children Sebastian and Giacamo SanFilippo of Orlando; a brother James Phillips of Jamestown and a sister Angeline Hine of Pittsburgh, PA.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by siblings Frank and Joseph SanFilippo, George Phillips, Kay Gronquist, Mary Jane Lindell and Rosie Piazza. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev.

Piotr Zaczynski will be celebrant. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorial may be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750.
