Shannon’s Obituary Shannon Lee Jones, 49 of St. Michael, ND began her journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake where she was residing due to health problems. Shannon was born August 7, 1969 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, ND to the late Cecelia (Mazakahomni) Feather Jones and Nathan Martin Jones Sr She was raised in the St. Michael area where she attended school at Little Flower Elementary.

She also attended Warwick High School, Fort Totten High School and later received her certificate at Cankdeska Cikana Community College in Fort Totten. In her younger years, her youth, Shannon enjoyed barrel racing, fancy dancing at pow-wows, traveling, playing basketball and cheerleading. She enjoyed hanging out with her siblings, where they were her audience to her “play” band she had with her cousins, Sandy Jackson, Anne Jackson, Dana Forde and Sharon Black.

In the spring of 2018, Shannon moved to Minto, ND with her daughter Augustine GoodBird Garcia and family, where she enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, going for walks, trips to the Mall of America and the Minnesota State Zoo. She also enjoyed going to the outdoor musicals and Disney on Ice with her granddaughters Kierra and Kianna Garcia. She enjoyed spending time with her favorite niece Simone Jones and her son Julian Davis, both whom she helped bring into the world.

She enjoyed going to peyote meetings with the DeMarce family and also doing arts and crafts where she was learning how to bead. Cruising with her daughters, having “mother-daughter chats”, spending time with her grandchildren she raised- her “Babies” Tashina, Tristen and Riley BlueShield were her most precious and loved moments. Shannon worked various jobs including at the Spirit Lake Casino, Bismarck, ND where she used her certificate as a C.N.A. working at nursing homes, caring for others.

She had a big heart and helped anyone who was around. She was always laughing and joking around with everyone. She also welcomed anyone in need of a place to stay into her home.

Shannon also lived with her daughter Kaylene and Brandon and two grandsons for half of the year. She helped raise her two grandsons, where she loved going for walks, going for rides in the park, going with the family on dates and out to eat, doing things with her grandkids, word puzzles, listening to music while cleaning, cooking for them and helping fix up their home. Again, Shannon loved to make people laugh and especially enjoyed the company of friends and family who came to visit her.

Although Shannon loved all her children and grandchildren very much, her only son Tobey was her baby and they had a very special bond and they meant the world to each other. Through her failing health, she remained very strong and independent and was the Rock for her children, grandchildren and siblings. After the loss of their parents, Shannon became the mother to her 4 brothers and 2 sisters and was always looking after them.

Shannon will be missed very much by all her knew her. She is now reunited with her parents and brother Kevin.
