Sharon Williamson Cross April 21, 1944 – January 13, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Sharon Williamson Cross of New Iberia passed away on January 13, 2019 after an extended battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was a fighter until the end, never once giving in to her disease. Funeral services for Sharon will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Michael Keith Landry officiating.
The family will receive guest from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be private and held at a later date. Sharon loved life and enjoyed each and every day. She brought joy and excitement to every room she ever entered; when you met her, you loved her instantly.
She made friends easily and was totally committed to her friendships. An extremely creative person, Sharon brought beauty to whatever medium she was in: interior design, dress, floral design, watercolor, drawing, or personal relationships working with the elderly. Born on April 21, 1944 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sharon spent the early years of her life growing up in Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado and Louisiana.
She attended Cherry Creek High School in Denver, CO, graduated from Lafayette High School, and then attended both LSU and USL. She had a successful career as an interior designer and decorator, both in Lafayette and Houston. She was preceded in death by her father, William Lewis, a P-51 Mustang pilot in World War II, shot down on September 11, 1944 when she was just an infant.
Also preceding her was her beloved mother, Eleanor Williamson; her stepfather who raised her, Nelson Williamson; her grandson, Tristan Villere Cross; and her son-in-law, Robert Mesko. She is survived by her husband, Villere J. Cross, and by her four children: Lauri Veron Williams (Danny) of Katy, Texas, Rex “Trey” Veron (Melanie) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Natalie Cross Mesko (Robert, deceased) of Denver, Colorado, and Casey Cross of Vancouver, Canada. She was beloved Maw Maw to eight grandchildren: Ashley Sutton Pena (Brian), Ryan Williams (Taylor), Taylar Williams Bargo (Branndon), Joshua Williams, Tyler Veron (Shelby), Rylee Veron, Lane Veron, and Vivienne Mesko and three great grandchildren She is also survived by a sister, Nancy Williamson Morton (Jay) and a brother, Bill Williamson (Tricia).
She will be truly missed by all friends and family. God can now lay claim to his newest and most beautiful angel. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested gifts to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
