Sharon Lee Newman Oleson December 15, 1941 – April 20, 2018 Beloved wife, mother, grandmother passed away on April 20, 2018 Sharon was born December 15, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the only child of Lee Olvin and Zora LeSieur Newman. She married Robert Lewis Oleson on June 28, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple.

She grew up in Sunset, Utah and graduated from Davis High School in 1960 with high honors. Sharon earned a scholarship to (then) Weber College where she studied business and home economics. While in college Sharon worked at a credit union organizing files and also doing filing.

She also worked in the office of the Ogden Elks Lodge posting accounts, filing, and typing letters for the office manager. After graduating, she worked in the office at Swift & Company for six years, four of which was secretary to the sales manager. She retired when she and Robert adopted their first child.

At this time, she was on the board of directors and secretary – treasurer for the Strong Credit Union. She worked at home with the Credit Union for six years. After time off for children, she started working part-time for Dr. Ross J Kelson and Dr Gary O Christensen.

This soon became a full time job and she worked for them for 23 years. Sharon was a faithful member of the LDS church. She served a stake mission with her husband, was in stake and ward primary presidencies, served in the ward as primary and sunday school teachers.

She was also in the Cub Scout program with her husband for several years. Sharon was also a Girl Scout leader for several years and had many fun adventures with the girls. The girls called her “greenie” because of her green uniform which she wore with pride.

She also worked with LDS social services in their adoption program as a volunteer for 5 years. She would meet with couples waiting for a baby. She was authorized to go to court and place babies.

This was dear to her heart as she and Robert adopted three children. She and Robert also worked for several years in the foster child program and had several young children over the years that they will never forget. Sharon is survived by her husband Robert, their three children; Beverly Jean Oleson, Davis Lee (Heather) Oleson, Tamara Lee (Michael) Brooks, 8 grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Roy 5th Ward, 5301 South 2100 West, Roy, Utah at 11:00 AM. With a viewing Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Myers Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West Roy, Utah and prior to the services at the church from 9:30- 10:30 AM.
