Obituary for Shelly Knaub SHELLY KNAUB, 57 of Ogallala, passed away May 26, 2018, at her home in Ogallala. Shelly was born April 18, 1961, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Gary and Marilynn (Scott) Knaub. She graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1979.

On June 16, 1979 she married Rex Welsh and moved to Denver, Colorado. Together they opened a packaging and shipping store that Shelly managed. During their marriage, the couple was blessed with three daughters Ashley, Addison, and Audrey.

After 18 years of marriage, the couple divorced. Prior to moving back to Ogallala in 1998, she was blessed with her youngest daughter, Alex. In Ogallala, Shelly had her own business in cleaning and decorating homes.

She loved walking into other people’s homes and making them beautiful as she had a knack for making a house a charming home. She was talented and could do anything she set her mind to whether it was fixing the plumbing for the kitchen sink, crocheting slippers or making her home gorgeous. Shelly was very intelligent, determined, strong willed and fiercely independent.

She raised her daughters to be just the same. She had an infectious laugh that could light up a room. She was an avid reader and nearly read all of the books at the Ogallala Public Library.

She also had a very soft spot in her heart for animals, especially dogs. Shelly rescued many animals throughout her life. She loved spending time out at the lake and being outside in her garden.

Shelly also enjoyed knitting and sewing and had an unbelievable talent for turning anything into something beautiful. Shelly was preceded in death by her father, Gary; brother, Spencer “Duke” Knaub; nephew, Tyler Knaub; great-nephew, Nova Knaub; grandparents, Jake and Helen Knaub & Neva and Owen Scott. Four uncles, Kenny, Don, Dean, and Chuck; and an aunt, Donna Anderson.
