Sherman Ray Smith, Jr., 70, of Perryopolis, Perry Twp. , passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Jefferson Hills. Born August 20, 1947 in Oak Hill, WV he was the son of the late Sherman R. Smith Sr. and Evelyn Osborne Smith who survives and resides in Perry Twp.

A resident of Perryopolis for the past 32 years, Mr. Smith was a member of Perryopolis First Christian Church and worked for General Motors until his retirement in 2005. Ray was a graduate of Carlisle Military School, class of 1966 and was a member of Perryopolis Lions Club and a proud 49 year member of the Painesville, Ohio Masonic Temple. Left to cherish Ray’s memory in addition to his mother are his wife Martha Thomas Smith to whom he just celebrated 49 years of marriage; son Sherman Ray Smith III & fiancé Shelly Shuler of Canfield, Ohio, two daughters & son in law Merritt Stefancik & husband Paul of Dawson; Sarah Smith & fiancé Damon Haskin of Belle Vernon; eight grandchildren David Smith, Ava Smith, Makenna Stefancik, Maddie Stefancik, Leah Carocci, Zadyn Smith, Ricklynn Hardwig, Abaiden Smith; three sisters in law Deborah Smith, Sharon Borowski & husband Donald, Jennifer Roberts & husband Marvin; a brother in law John James & wife Betty along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a brother Charles E. Smith Sr. Visitation will be held Monday from 4-8 pm at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515. Relatives and friends will gather directly at the Perryopolis First Christian Church for funeral services on Tuesday July 17, 2017 with the Rev. Melissa Snyder of Perryopolis First Christian Church officiating.

Interment will take place at Sylvan Heights Cemetery. The Tri-County Masonic Lodge 252 F&AM will conduct services Monday evening at 7:30 pm in the funeral home.
