Shirley A. Melton, 81, of Fortville, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. She was born October 10, 1937 in Indianapolis to Charles and Helen (Bobst) Sylvester. Shirley was a member of the Wild Life Federation and donated to the Humane Society.

She attended Family Life Community Church in Pendleton. Shirley had worked at Barrett & Powers Insurance Agency as an insurance underwriter and had also been a legal secretary. Shirley is survived by children: Tracee Ann (Steven) Wolf of Fortville; Lisa Kay Melton of Fortville; Mark (Lori) Melton of Oakwood, GA; grandchildren: Megan (Joe) Calhoun, Matthew A. Hansing, Dustin Melton, Shelby (Ryan) Carroll, Abby Melton, Sadie Melton; great-grandchildren: Madison A. Calhoun; Nolan Carroll, Jax and Knox Melton.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ken in 2011; her parents, brothers: John, Ned and Marvin Sylvester; sisters: Dorothy Bauer, Myrtle Calendello, Margaret Harris and Betty Woodrum. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday, March 4, 2019 from 11:00 am until the time of service.

Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be shared at www.
