Shirley Ann Jones Bryant, age 77, resident of Stanton, Tennessee and wife of the late James N. Bryant, departed this life Tuesday morning, December 18, 2018 at Rainbow Health & Rehab in Bartlett. A Funeral Service for Mrs. Bryant will be held at 12 Noon Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. John Ed Watkins, pastor of Mercy’s Bridge Church in Somerville, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Somerville City Cemetery. A visitation for Mrs. Bryant will be from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Shirley was born April 15, 1941 in Calhoun City, Mississippi. She received her education in Calhoun County, Mississippi and was married March 11, 1972 to James Noona Bryant. She was employed as a manager at Top’s Bar-B-Q in Memphis before her retirement in 1999.

Shirley was a longtime resident of Shelby County and was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville. She enjoyed special times with her family. Mrs. Bryant is survived by four daughters, Cathy Foust (Larry) of Memphis, TN, Peggy Sheppard (Dan) of Goodlettsville, TN, Rhonda Parks (Herman) of Memphis, TN, Theresa McNinch of Lakeland, TN; her son, Johnny Murley of Memphis, TN; four sisters, Bertha Moore (Huey) of Batesville, MS, Beverly Moore of Batesville, MS, Mary Eubanks (Robert) of Middleton, MS, Margaret McClain (Robert) of Mathiston, MS; three brothers, Billy Jones of Memphis, TN, Jimmy Jones of Somerville, TN, Howard Jones (Gladys) of Walnut, MS; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and her pet dog, “Buddy”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Noona Bryant who died June 20, 2016; her parents, Lois Edward Jones and Inez Pinion Jones; her son, Timothy Murley who died March 27, 2018; four brothers and sisters and three grandchildren. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Mrs. Bryant’s grandsons, Chris Rose, Nick Rose, Michael Sircy, Steve Burleson, Terry Jones and DeWayne Jones. Honorary pallbearers will include Tony McNinch.

The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
