Mrs. Shirley Ann Owens Martin, age 85, of Brodhead, widow of Frank, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at the Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation Center in Brodhead, KY. Shirley was born a daughter of the late Shaderick Jackson Owens, and the late Hattie Marie Eastham on January 25, 1933. She was a retired school teacher from Brodhead Graded and High School, having taught first grade for 35 years.

After retirement she enjoyed volunteering at school. She was a member of Providence Church of Christ, and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of the Quail Homemakers, the Thursday Club and was instrumental in organizing the Little World’s Fair for many years.

She enjoyed cooking, sports and supporting her grandchildren in their many activities. Those left to celebrate her life are her daughters: Shari Proctor and Roger of Brodhead, KY, and Kristi Reynolds and Roy of Crab Orchard, KY; grandchildren: Hillary Whitaker and Matthew, Dustin Reynolds and Abigail, and Kayla Reynolds; great-grandson: Jackson Reed Whitaker; as well as a host of friends and neighbors. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Billy Frank Martin.

Visitation for Mrs. Shirley will be Friday, January 4, 2019, from 5pm – 9pm, and Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 11am – 2pm. Funeral will be Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 2pm, with Bro. Robbie Cable officiating.

Burial will follow in the Providence Cemetery. Condolences can be made to the family at www.
