OBITUARY Shirley Jean Van Trump January 26, 1939 – November 5, 2018 Shirley Jean Van Trump, age 79, passed away November 5, 2018. Visitation will be from 5:00 -7:00 at Floral Hills Funeral Home on Friday, November 9. Graveside services will be on Saturday, November 10th at 11:00am at Polsley Cemetery, Clarinda, Iowa.

Shirley was born January 26, 1939 in Kansas City, MO. She was an active, spunky woman who was passionate about everything she decided to tackle. In her youth, she was raised in Kansas City, MO by her parents, George and Mable Potts.

She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved Aunt (Mick) Mildred and Uncle Charlie on the farm in Clarinda, Iowa when possible. She married Jim King in 1957 and was blessed in that union with her son, Randy, and daughter, Jamie. She ultimately married her love, George Van Trump, and they added sons, Ray and Nathan to make their family complete.

Shirley’s early passions included dancing and entertaining family and friends. She and George were active in Arabian Show Horse Community. She loved taking Ray and Nathan to horse shows around the area and nurturing her horses to receiving numerous awards and accolades in the show arenas.

Her passion for politics often lead to her touting people on her opinion of particular candidates or policies. Her most notable accomplishment and of pride and joy was her deep love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She would stop at nothing to ensure they knew of her love and support.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mable Potts, and her husband, George Van Trump. Survivors include son, Randy King and wife Kim of Raymore, MO; daughter, Jamie Gargotta and husband Tony of Lee’s Summit, MO; son, Ray Van Trump and wife Maria of Lone Jack, MO; son, Nathan Van Trump and wife Shelly of Raymore, MO; grandchildren, Joe Gargotta, Ashley Miller, Megan Cameron, Danielle Ellis, Mireyea Van Trump, Courtney Van Trump, Nikki Van Trump, Elijah Van Trump, Asa Van Trump; great grandchildren, Addison Miller, Graham Ellis, Brilee, Hadley, and Presleigh Gargotta, Chloe, Beckham, Cruz Cameron, Paxton and Easton Lawson.
