Obituary for ROWENA MARCELLA JACOBS Rowena Marcella Jacobs, 86 passed away November 8. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Sunday, November 11, at The Louis Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Rowena was born in St. Louis, MO on November 22, 1931 to the late Paul and Anna Richolson and moved to Kansas City in 1936, where she remained throughout her lifetime.

Rowena attended Paseo High School and after graduating she immediately went to work as a secretary for a printing company, and later, Columbia Pictures. Rowena met Jack L. Jacobs on a blind date in 1949 and they married in 1951, enjoying 51 wonderful and memorable years. Rowena returned to the work place after raising her family and worked for several years as a bookkeeper for Handy Dan Hardware and retired from the former Jones Department Store (Macy’s) where she was known for years as a “master” gift wrapper.

Rowena was a member of B’nai B’rith Women, City of Hope Harriet Dubinsky Chapter, Club 100 and the Temple B’nai Jehudah Empty Nesters. She was a former member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah and Congregation Beth Torah. Rowena was a loving and caring individual who will long be remembered for her warm smile, sweet nature, special fondness for dancing, going to Las Vegas and local casinos and most of all, spending time with her loving family, celebrating birthdays, holidays and special occasions.

The family would like to extend gratitude to entire staff of the Atriums and the Kansas City Hospice House for the special care and support they so kindly provided to Rowena during her final years, and days. Rowena is preceded in death by her husband Jack L. Jacobs who passed away in 2002 and her daughter, Leslie Diana Jacobs who passed away in June 2018. Rowena leaves behind her children: Annette (Joel) Fish, Larry (Ellen) Jacobs and Bonnie Knight, 7 Grandchildren, Cara (Mike) Schiff, Rachel (Nick) Forney, Bryan Fish, Michael Jacobs, Ryan Knight, Lauren Jacobs and Jadyn Jacobs along with three Great Grandchildren: Ellasyn Forney, Jacob Schiff and Adalyn Forney, and special companion, Ben Corchine.

She is also survived by a brother, Byron (Sandy) Richolson of Rochester, New York. Kindly omit flowers.
