Obituary for BETTY ROBBINS Betty Robbins, 94, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Village Shalom. Funeral services will be held graveside at 12:00 pm Friday November 9, 2018 at Rose Hill Cemetery, 6900 Troost Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests contributions to Village Shalom, 5500 West 123rd Street, Overland Park, Kansas, 66209; or the charity of one’s choice.

Betty was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and was a longtime resident of Leawood, Kansas. She had a successful career as a bookkeeper in Chicago, and ran the front-office for a local business after moving to Kansas City. Betty was a longtime member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah as well.

Betty filled her time with baking, sewing, knitting, needlepoint, reading book after book, and successfully completing the New York Times crossword puzzles each day. Most important to Betty was the relationship with her kids, and she was most proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whether it was volunteering as a para-aid at Leawood Elementary School for many years, or challenging her grandchildren (and winning!

) games of Scrabble, she lived for the smiles and happiness of others around her. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Seymour Robbins, of 66 years; her mother, Bessie Braiman; her brother and sister-in-law, Al and Shirley Braiman; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Pearl Robbins. Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Neil Nodelman; son, Joel Robbins; daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Mark Gordon; grandchildren: Mark and Dani Nodelman, Sarah Nodelman, Samantha Gordon and Kyle Webb, and Josh Gordon; great-grandchildren: Drew, Reid and Chase Nodelman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law William and Toby Friedman.
