Shirley Mae Bond of Oakdale, Louisiana September 1, 1942 – March 8, 2019 Oakdale=A going home celebration for Mrs. Shirley Mae Bond will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019 in Allen Parish Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Barry Gautreaux and Kevin Simmons will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home.

Shirley was born on September 1, 1942, to Ivy and Rena Mae Willis. She devoted her life to serving God, her family, and her community. Shirley was a gifted educator of 36 years and touched the lives of countless children who passed through the Oakdale school system.

She was a life-long servant of God, ministering in various church roles including Sunday school teacher, choir member, and VBS teacher. She was happiest when spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite hobby was visiting with her friends on the telephone where she loved to share stories about her grandchildren.

Her passing will leave a void in the lives of all she touched. Shirley went home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2019. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and soul mate, James Harold Bond; her parents, Ivy Willis and Rena Mae Perry Willis; and her brother, Chester Willis.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters, Blaklee Bond Landreneau and husband, Stuart, of Deridder, and Blair Bond Crawford and husband, Allen (Bubba) of Pollock; and two unofficially adopted children, Derrance Billard and Barbara Johnson of Oakdale. Her world revolved around her grandchildren, Bryce Landreneau, Beau Crawford, her shadow-Brantley James Landreneau, Brynna Landreneau, and Bristol Crawford. She also leaves a host of family and friends including two sisters, Jean Soileau and Candy Simmons; nieces, Mary Soileau Carlisle and Adena Scheel Lejeune, and nephews, Brad Soileau, Gary Soileau, and Brian Soileau.

Among her most precious friends are Jimmie Henry, Vickie Angel, Letha Celestine, Doris Harmon, Jean Lee, Bruce and Kathy Mann, and Rev. and Mrs. Barry Gautreaux. Friends may call at Allen Parish Funeral Home, 311 Highway 1152, Oakdale on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will continue to receive visitors on Monday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers will include Bryce Landreneau, Stuart Landreneau, Bubba Crawford, Brad Soileau, Gary Soileau, Curtis Payne, David Johnson, Scott Lejeune, Allen Crawford, and Steve Landreneau.
