Bowdoinham – Shirley T. Rollins, 82 of Carding Machine Rd. went home to be with the Lord suddenly on Wednesday, July 3, 2018. She was born in Brunswick on December 21, 1935, a daughter of Calvin and Helen Taylor.

She grew up in Brunswick and was educated in the Brunswick Schools, graduating from Brunswick High School. On March 6, 1952 Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence Rollins and the couple resided in Brunswick to raise their family. Shirley held a variety of positions throughout her adult life.

She worked at the family owned restaurant in Brunswick; also worked for her brother as office manager at Taylor Made Signs; held several positions as a personal caretaker; picked shrimp as a side job; and was an amazing seamstress. Shirley was not a person who found joy in sitting around. She always found something to keep her busy.

Shirley had many passions. She loved to sew and knit, making things from the cloth was something magical to her. She also loved to collect things, and had a very large collection of baby dolls that she was proud of.

With all her life’s passions nothing was more important to her than her family. She loved family gatherings or just spending time with them. Shirley and Lawrence would have celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary this year, something she was very proud of, unfortunately Lawrence passed away in January.

Shirley cared for him for many years as his health declined. He was her everything. Shirley was a very spiritual person and on July 3rd was reunited with her husband forever.

Shirley is predeceased by her husband Lawrence; two brothers, Kenneth Taylor and Calvin Taylor; and three grandsons. She is survived by four sons, David Rollins and his wife Kelley of Bowdoinham, Dale Rollins and his wife Sue of Waterville, Eric Rollins of Bowdoinham, Calvin Rollins and his wife Patsy of Richmond; three daughters, Cherry Rollins of Bowdoinham, Rosemary Rollins of Portland, and Helen Tarr and her husband Ted of Massachusetts; two sisters, Taylor Cole of Brunswick and Mary Keller of Massachusetts; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 1pm Monday July 9th at Litchfield Plains Cemetery.
