Zelma Shurley Barker Ivie 91, a lifetime resident of Springville, Utah passed away October 16, 2018. She was born January 29, 1927 in Springville to Alma Moroni and Rachael Zelma Barker. She was raised and educated in Springville, Utah.

She married Rey Arthur Ivie, August 2, 1946. Shurley always had a large garden. She grew lots of vegetables which she shared with others and canned.

Rey and Shurley often had cows and chickens. Shurley worked for the Nebo School District 26 years, doing custodial work. Some of the years she worked in the Springville Art Museum.

She was a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers. Shurley was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in the primary, library and was a Sunday school teacher for twenty-three years.

Her greatest love was going to the Provo Temple each week. She was preceded in death by her parents Alma and Rachael Barker; her brothers and sisters: Eva, Harold, Alice, Alma, Jessie, Ned, Dale, George, and Jay; her husband, Rey A. Ivie; a daughter, Janice Shurley Glispy; a grandson, Steven James Cragun; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa Sarah Harley, Andrew Jackson Harley, Emma Ann McKinney, and Hannah Nicole Cragun. She is survived by; two sons and two daughters; Jimmie (Candace) Ivie, Springville, Utah; Lynn (Tawny) Ivie, Gunnison, Utah; Bonnie (Grant) McKinney, American Fork, Utah; Connie (James) Cragun, Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a son-in law, Roy Glispy, Mount Pleasant, Utah; 33 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 355 East Center Street, Springville, UT. Viewings will be held Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Wheeler Mortuary, located at 211 East 200 South, Springville, UT from 6-8 p.m. and Monday, one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ashford Assisted Living in Springville for their loving kindness and helpfulness towards our Mother. A special thanks to the staff at First Choice Hospice.
