Sidney Lanier “Pop” Truelove, 84 of Gainesville passed away Wednesday April 25, 2018 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Born in Dawson County, Mr. Truelove had lived in Hall County for a number of years. He was the son of the late Joseph F. and Ruth Smith Truelove.

A loving husband, father, Pop and brother, Mr. Truelove was a 30 year Hall County educator at Johnson High, North Hall High and Lanier Technical College who influenced the lives of many. His hobbies included bee keeping, vegetable gardening, woodworking, machining and metal working. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Crane Truelove, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Chuck Lewis, Gainesville; son, Scott Douglas Truelove and Ashley Wall, Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, David L. and Gale Truelove, Dahlonega; sister, Judy Truelove Lancaster, Marietta; niece and husband, Jenny and Michael Parker, Hartford, MI; nephew, Kenny Truelove, Columbus; grandchildren; Megan Lewis, Caitlin Lewis, Kristina and Nathan Ford and 7 great grandchildren also survive. Mr. Truelove is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dean F. Truelove and a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Lewis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 28, 2018 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.

Rev. Dwayne Smith and Rev. Adam Smith will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
