Sis (Pedersen) Laurin, age 70, of Menasha, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Sis was born on February 20, 1948 to Einer (Marty) and Cecelia Pedersen. Sis was married to Dale Laurin Sr. on November 16, 1968 at St. Patrick’s Church in Menasha.
They recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with over 100 guests. They also took a Caribbean Cruise in October to celebrate. Sis, in her younger days, participated in softball, running, walking, and of course, bowling.
She was a member of seven leagues a week for over ten years. For two years she held the highest female average in the Valley. Sis also taught bowling to youngsters for many years every Saturday morning.
Many of her students grew up to be avid bowlers. Sis was an avid fisherman, always catching more fish than her brothers. Until recently, Sis was also an avid “Stamper” and Card maker.
She sent out over 100 Christmas cards every year that were handmade, and almost every one included a hand written letter. She donated her cards every year to several hospitals. Sis was a very giving person, and made sure that at Christmas, everyone got way too many presents.
Since 1982, Sis and Dale served Christmas brunch for up to 50 people, cooking for 2 days and seldom taking time to sit and enjoy her work…she was too busy making sure everyone had enough to eat. Everyone looked forward to her famous pfeffernusse (Secret Family Recipe) and her brown bread and banana bread. One of many things Sis enjoyed throughout her life was traveling.
She and Dale have been to all 50 states and she always bragged about being to Alaska 12 times. If you needed help with something, Sis was there. She took in and cared for her mother in law for 3 months until her mother in law passed away.
As most grandparents, she adored all of her grandchildren, and was there to cheer them on in Soccer, Basketball, Tennis and Track. She was happy when she could shop with her granddaughter at any thrift shop. It seems that Sis always had some health problem throughout her life, but being a stubborn Irish woman, always bounced back.
She was back at the gym five days a week, on the treadmill for one and a half hours. She was an avid reader, reading three to four books a week for many years. Sis loved her husband with all her heart.
They were a couple made in heaven. Sis is survived by Dale, Children Kelly Riesterer (Bob), Dale Jr. (Sharon), Kerry Jo Laurin (Kerry), ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren, her brother Thomas (Tim) and Sue Pedersen and Dan (Vicki) Pedersen, as well as two sisters in law, Linda Patsy Pederson. She was preceded in death by brothers Mike and Pat, her parents, and one grandson.
Chiefy, I’ll miss you more than life itself, my first and only love. I have no regrets. Say hi to Mike and Pat, Ma & Dad, Ricky, and of course to our Wyatt.
