Obituary of Sister Magdalen Marek Sister Magdalen Marek,CSFN 1931-2018 Utica, NY Sr. Mary. Magdalen of Jesus Crucified was called to Eternal Rest on November 21, 2018 Sister Magdalen,CSFN (Regina Mary Marek) was born in Ozone Park, New York on October 20, 1931, one of five children born to Sylvester and Wanda Marek. After graduation from Richmond Hill High School, Richmond Hill , N.Y. she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth on September 8, 1950.

Sister taught the First Grade in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Sister taught at Holy Trinity School in Utica 1964-1979 and returned to teach from 1984-2002. She retired from teaching in 2002.

She served part time Parish Ministry at Holy Trinity from 2002 – 2018. Illness necessitated her move to Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent, Monroe, Ct. Sister Magdalen is survived by her brother Sylvester and his wife Joyce Marek, Florida, many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.

Sister is survived by the Community of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth along with Sister Julia Bargiel with whom she worked at Holy Trinity, Utica, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated, Saturday, November 24th at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent with burial in the cemetery of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. , Monroe, Ct. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated, Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:00AM at Holy Trinity Church in Utica by the Rev.

Canon John E. Mikalajunas and the Rev. Joseph E. Moskal. All are invited to come and pray for the Soul of Sr. Mary Magdalen Marek CSFN at Holy Trinity Church.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Sr. Mary Magdalen may be made to the Holy Trinity Raise the Roof Campaign, 1206 Lincoln Ave. , Utica, NY 13502 Local arrangements are under the care of the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Ave. , Utica, NY 13502.
