Obituary for Edward L. O’Toole Whitesboro – Edward L. O’Toole, 81, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Heritage Health Care Center, with his loving family by his side. Ed was born on July 20, 1937, in Utica, the son of Stanley and Cecelia (Weber) O’Toole. He attended Utica schools and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy, Class of 1955.

On July 28, 1962, Ed married Janet M. Kulakowski at St. Stanislaus Church, Utica, a blessed union of 56 years. He was employed with General Electric for over 35 years. Ed was a member and Past Grand Knight of the William E. Burke Council #189 Knights of Columbus and served several state officer positions.

He was a member, former trustee and parish council member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and the former St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro. Ed was a dedicated member of the Catholic community and recognized by the Bishop of the Diocese of Syracuse for his service, devotion and lifelong commitment to the Knights of Columbus and the Church. He was also active in many other charitable organizations.

Ed loved spending time with family and friends and was an avid golfer and devoted NY Giants fan. Surviving besides his beloved wife, Janet, are his two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Bridget O’Toole, McLean, VA, and their children, Molly and Patrick; John and Maggie O’Toole, Ashburn, VA and their children, Kate and Kelly; sister-in-law, Mickey O’Toole, Utica; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edmund and Elaine Kulakowski, Pompano Beach, FL, Terry Kulakowski, Hopewell Junction, NY, Phyllis Fenton, Utica, Jack and Janet Kulakowski, Clay, Eleanor and Tony Ciancio, Whitesboro and Irene McEntee, Odenton, MD. Ed also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews and had a special place in his heart for his “extended daughters”, Naomi Fragale and Sandy Hensel.

Ed was predeceased by a son, Michael O’Toole; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tom and Marie O’Toole and Robert O’Toole; sister, Maureen Cieslak, and brothers-in-law, Fred Kulakowski and Harry McEntee. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday from 4-7 p.m. at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd. , Utica.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Whitesboro, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton.
