Sister Mary Ellen Seo died at 9:20 p.m. on February 27, 2019 at Seton Residence in Evansville, Indiana. Sister Mary Ellen was born on December 25, 1938 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Frank and Ellen Rose (Coleman) Seo. Sister graduated from St. Joseph High School in New Orleans in 1956 and entered the Daughters of Charity in St. Louis, Missouri in 1957.

After initial formation, Sister Mary Ellen was sent to St. Vincent Grade School in Keokuk, Iowa where she served as a primary teacher from 1961 to 1965. Sister received a B.A. in History and Education from Marillac College in St. Louis, Missouri and an M.A. in Education and Learning Disabilities from Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sister Mary Ellen continued her service as a primary and learning disabilities teacher in the following schools: Visitation School, San Francisco, California (1965-68), St. Boniface School, Perryville, Missouri (1968-71), Elizabeth Ann Seton School, Brewer, Missouri (1971-73), St. Stephen Grade School, New Orleans, Louisiana (1973-1981), St. Boniface School, Perryville, Missouri (1981-83), St. Stephen Grade School, New Orleans (1983-2006), Good Shepherd School, New Orleans, Louisiana (2006-2009) and at St. Rita Catholic School in New Orleans, Louisiana as a volunteer re/ reading teacher (2009-16) after which time she moved to Chateau de Notre Dame in New Orleans to begin the ministry of prayer.

Sister Mary Ellen came to Seton Residence on February 18, 2019 to continue this ministry until the time of her death. A Wake Service will be held on Saturday, March 2, at 9:30 a.m. in the Seton Residence Chapel and the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Sister was preceded in death by her parents and she is survived by an aunt, niece, cousins, her Sisters in Community and friends.
