Sonia Baez, 86 of Jersey City, entered peacefully into eternal life on Sunday, May 13th surrounded by her family. Born May 7, 1932 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, she came to Jersey City as a teenager. She was a homemaker, devoted to raising her family.

She was an amazing cook, loving mother and housewife. Her love for family was endless and was evident by the smile she showed every time she was with them. In her leisure, she enjoyed Arts and Crafts, trips to Atlantic City and a good BINGO game.

She is predeceased by her husband, Damian Baez (1989) & her son, Damian, Jr. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children; Emily Aponte (Ernesto), Steve Baez (Sylvia), Lorraine Baez (Pedro Santos), Sonia Baez, Margie Baez, & Susan Pabon (Frank). She is also the proud and loving grandmother of 26 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company (RiottoFH.com), 3205 Kennedy Blvd.

, Jersey City. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 344 Sixth St., Jersey City. Cremation will take place privately.
