Obituary for Stanley Smith Stanley Smith (Dickie), 92, a native of Caviness, Lamar County, Texas, and a resident of Houma, died June 9, 2018 at 2:14 AM in his home surrounded by his devoted children. On Saturday, June 16, 2018, visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 PM at Samart Funeral home, 4511 West Park Ave. Gray, LA.

A Memorial service will be held at 2 PM. He is survived by his 5 children; Charles (Butch) Smith and wife Patricia of Houma, Mickey Lusco and husband Charles of Houma, Stephen Smith of Gray, Tommy Smith and wife Laura Tieken of Baton Rouge, and Cheri Blanchard and husband James of Houma; 11 grandchildren, Chris and Andrew Smith, Lori Ahlf, Heather Crappel, Doug Smith, Curt, Jacob, and Erin Lusco, Sadie and Jonah Blanchard, Sara Verdin. Sixteen great-grandchildren, Bailey and Kara Smith, Jaxon Ahlf, Jenna, Caleb and Luke LeBlanc, Sawyer Lusco, Drake and Harley Smith, Harper and Casyn Crappel, Amelie, Eleanor, and Juliet Verdin, Evangeline and Elliot Bridgford.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Lucille Knudsen; parents, Charlie and Lillie Rose Smith; 7 sisters, Jewel Whittaker, Mildred Nichols, L.V. (Sis) Fischer, Edith Stephenson, Charlene Foote, Neva Harbuck, Willie Davidson; 7 brothers: Casey, Lois, Jack, Chester, Walker, Bailey, James. Great-grand Daughter Shelby Ahlf. Dickie often shared pleasant memories of growing up on the family farm and was the last of 15 children to depart for Heaven to join the family circle.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific from 1944-1946. He was owner of Stan’s Diesel Service in Dulac, LA for many years until he retired. He enjoyed many hobbies during his life such as raising cattle, fishing, hunting, carpentry, metal crafts, and story-telling.
