Saturday @ Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home Burial: Grassy Gap Cemetery – Wooton, KY Stella Johnson of Smilax was born on July 26, 1940 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Elhannon Pennington and the late Flara Boggs Pennington. She departed this walk of life on Thursday, May 03, 2018 at the age of 77.

She was united in marriage to her loving and devoted husband, Leeman Johnson on November 19, 1960 in Hyden, Kentucky. Stella had been a life-long resident of Leslie County and was a member of the Hurts Creek Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, ginseng hunting and cooking.

Above all, she was a wonderful sister, aunt and “granny” to all of her family whom she cherished. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leamon Johnson; siblings, Ray Pennington, Loretta Lewis, Marie Howard, Elhannon Pennington, Jr., Columbus Pennington, and Anna Lee Caldwell. Survivors include, five beloved brothers, Alphard Pennington of Yeaddiss, Elisha Pennington of Hazard, Bill Pennington & wife, Yvonne of Leatherwood, Ben Pennington & wife, Alice of London, and Finley Pennington of Wooton; five beloved sisters, Alice Turner of Yeaddiss, Elizabeth Joseph of Wooton, Hettie Langdon of Hyden, Recie Pennington of Smilax, and Mallie Pennington of Smilax; special friends, Mable Pennington, and Diane Short.

A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.
