Stephan P Hlauer Obituary Photo

Stephan Hagelauer, a resident of Exton, PA passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 23rd. He was 46 years young. Stephan was born in France, growing up mainly in Paris and spending the summers in Corsica with his Mother, Lucie, his sister, Cathy, cousins and friends.

Imagine South Philly but on a country road – every house along his village road belonged to an Aunt, Uncle, or cousin and you wouldn’t be surprised to see a bull or cows casually grazing on the road. He completed his service in the French Military trained as a Mountain Ski Sniper. His early academic life was cultivated by Jesuit brothers where Stephan developed his inquisitive mind and thirst for knowledge.

His life experiences and educational accomplishments are vast, receiving his BS in Finance at the Institut Franco-Américain de Management, followed by an MBA at Central Michigan University in 1994, then his Executive MBA from TRIUM Global eMBA Program (issued by HEC, LSE, NYU) in 2012. He moved to the states in 1997 where two years later he met his future American wife, Kelly, in Manayunk at Arroyo Grill and it was truly love at first sight. Stephan swept her off her feet and showed Kelly the world taking her to Paris, Corsica, California within the first three months of dating.

They married in 2002 and eventually settled in Exton, PA where they celebrated their greatest joys with the arrival of their two precious children in (Eloise) 2004 and (Noah) 2007. In 2009, their unforgettable adventures continued as they moved to the French Tropical Island of La Reunion for two years working with his father, Guy, at La Cartonerie de la Reunion. Their family returned to Exton in 2011.

Stephan was currently working in his dream job at Energage as the Vice President of Consulting where he led an amazing team that worked with organizations to build a better workplace through employee engagement platforms. He absolutely LOVED his job and his colleagues! He was a committed and passionate member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Stephan was a family man and an active member in his community serving as a volunteer with Aidan’s Heart Foundation as well volunteering with TEDxYouth events at his childrens’ schools. He was involved as a volunteer coach at Upwards for his son’s basketball team (not ever playing bball before) as well as assistant coach for flag football at USTC (as a foreigner, this is another unknown game). He loved his fellow tennis family both at Whitford Country Club and later at PennyPacker Country Club.

Stephan loved spending time in his yard, cultivating his garden, chopping down a tree or flipping burgers by the pool for family and friends. He was less passionate about his annual outside Christmas Decoration duties. He joked that he looked forward to finding out what his wife had planned for him that weekend.

He was an avid skier and tennis player and thoroughly enjoyed teaching his kids his multitude of hobbies and skills. Even though his parents lived an ocean or two away, he made sure his mom was a part of every Saturday and Sunday morning breakfast via Skype. He loved taking care of his family and home.

This love also extended to his in-laws and nieces and nephews, who can’t remember a family event he wasn’t a part of. He was a big brother to all of them and handled the ribbing of his Frenchie ways with great humor. His love and adoration for his wife and family was evident to all who knew them.

He was a loved soul with a dazzling smile and he will be missed greatly. He is survived by his wife Kelly and their two young children, Eloise and Noah. He is further survived by his parents Lucia Bicchieray and Guy Hagelauer (Annick Hagelauer), his sister Cathy Icard (John Francoise), Mother in Law, Eileen Donnelly, brother and sister in laws, Sean Donnelly, Christine McCarty (John McCarty), Matthew Donnelly (Kristin Donnelly), Kate Clinton (Jake Clinton) as well as his nieces and nephews: Cianna, Pierre-Francoise, Laurina, Ryan, Mickey, Riley, Brady and Nora.

His family will receive relatives and friends, Thursday May 31st from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Logan Funeral Home, 698 East Lincoln Hwy (Corner of Rt. # 30 & Ship Rd. ), Exton, Pa 19341 and Friday, June 1st from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at St Elizabeth Church, Route #100 & Fellowship Rd.

, Chester Springs, PA 19425. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Church. Interment is private.
