Stephen P. Fredette formerly of Westfield, MA passed away on February 27th at Heritage Hall in Agawam. Stephen also known as “Pear” was born on August 13, 1946 to Clarence & Margaret Fredette. Stephen graduated from St Mary’s High School in 1964 and then from Assumption College in 1968.

Stephen worked for the Town of Longmeadow for 30 years retiring in 2004. Stephen helped coach many great softball teams like Dick Joseph’s, Wall Sports, Welcome Inn and Ifland Lumber leading them to many state, New England and Northeast titles. He was elected to the USSSA New England Hall of Fame in 2000.

He also was an assistant coach for the Cardinals of the WMTFL for 14 years and won 3 league championships. He was a member of the Sons of Erin in Westfield and was an avid Oakland Raiders, Montreal Canadians and New York Yankees fan attending many games throughout the country. He leaves several relatives and would like to thank the staff of Heritage Hall South that assisted him over his declining years and especially to Quinn.

Funeral service for Stephen will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 9:30 AM from the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett St. Westfield. Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 203 Southampton Rd. Westfield, following the Mass.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 4-7PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers Stephen has requested a donation be made to a charity of one’s choice.
