Stephen’s Obituary Stephen R. Kalinger, 82, a resident of Souderton, PA for the last 19 years, passed away May 8, 2019, at his home. He and his wife, Jean M. (Hayden) Kalinger, would have observed their 62nd wedding anniversary on August 18, of this year. They had formerly resided in Chalfont, PA.

Born July 30, 1936, in Jersey City, NJ, he was a son of the late Stephen J. and Julia (Wendlinger) Kalinger, and was a 1954 graduate of Woodridge High School. He also attended Rutgers University and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Mr. Kalinger was employed by S. B. Thomas Baking Co. for 18 years before becoming a self-employed Pepperidge Farm distributor for 28 years, retiring in 2005.

He then served as a study hall proctor for Souderton Area High School for another 11 years, where he was affectionately known as “Mr. K.” Mr. Kalinger was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Telford, PA, where he served on consistory. He enjoyed reading, history and traveling. He was an Eagle Scout and served as a scout leader as a young man.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Linda Billingsley and her husband, Scott, of Meadville, PA, and Lisa Cowperthwait and her husband, David, of Clarence, NY; a son, Stephen Kalinger, of Souderton, PA; a brother, Roger Kalinger and his wife, Loretta, of Strafford, PA; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family will begin receiving friends at 10AM followed by a memorial service at 11:30AM on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford (Franconia Twp. ), PA.

Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Compassus Hospice, 601 Office Center Drive, Suite 125, Fort Washington, PA 19034. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.
