Stevan O’Dean Hinck, 77, of Sandy, Utah, passed away in his home, surrounded by family, on July 7th, 2018. Steve was born in Afton, Wyoming on March 30, 1941 to Floyd and Rieta Hinck. Steve is survived by many family members, including Sally, his wife of 47 years.

They were married in 1970, after which they were sealed for time and all eternity on June 27, 1998. They have 3 children: Tana Lov Hinck, Stevanie Ann Holen (husband Kjell), and Stevan RJ Hinck (wife Emily). Steve and Sally have 8 grandchildren: Justin, Jordan Black (wife Mary), Shelby Osborne (husband William), Simon, Sheldon, Trey, Nash, and Stone.

From his first marriage he has 3 children: Mike (wife Benita), Connie (husband Larry), and Devon (wife Candy). They have added to his family 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren (with one on the way). Steve also leaves behind his brother Dee Hinck, and Sister Jane Stoker, as well as many friends that he also considers family.

Steve is now reunited with his parents Floyd and Rieta, and 2 brothers Jim and Jeff, in addition to many other family members. Steve graduated from Star Valley High School and afterwards he worked various jobs in both Idaho and Utah. He also served our country in the National Guard.

Upon settling in Utah, he began to work for Farmer Brothers coffee company as a route salesman. He traveled from Northern Wyoming to Southern Utah for many years. During that time he received various awards as a top Salesman in his division.

He sold real estate for a few years before starting his first business in 1977. In 2005 he received the “Sub Contractor of the Year” award from D R Horton and was rewarded with a hunting trip in Texas, which was one of the highlights of his life. He continued working to improve and expand his company, S & S Excavating Inc. until 2015, when he retired for health reasons.

He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, and watching his children and grandchildren excel in sports and cheerleading. His children often mention how he never missed any of their activities. Many times he would tell them he couldn’t make it because of work, but always seemed to show up anyway.

He leaves a legacy of kindness and unconditional love for others. This man didn’t have a selfish bone in his body. He gave all he had to make a good life for his family.

Anyone that knew him would say that he is remembered for his work ethic, integrity, and honesty. His greatest joy was the successes of all of his family. He is our hero!
