Steve Barbee, age 83, of Dublin, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Barbee was born in Laurens County on November 11, 1935 to the late Richard Lee Barbee and the late Mary Ella Cochran Barbee. Steve was a veteran of the United States Army.

He worked many years at J.P. Stevens in Milledgeville installing computers and later retired from Southern Printing Company. Steve was a member of Marie Baptist Church and a former member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dollie Barbee Dominy, and brothers, Willie Lee Barbee and George Barbee.

Mr. Barbee is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jessie Swinson Barbee, of Dublin; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Bubba Stone; grandsons, Seth Childers and Beau Stone; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rufus and Mary Barbee, Clyde and Connie Barbee, and Grady and Janie Barbee; his dog, Suzy and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Marie Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Rev. Bobby Hutto will officiate. Pallbearers will be Beau Stone, Seth Childers, Larry Stone, Steve Freeman, Jimmy Ray Wyatt, and Bo J Claxton.
