OBITUARY Sue Neal Menefee April 20, 1923 – November 22, 2018 Sue Neal Menefee, 95, of Bridgewater Home, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018. She was born on April 20, 1923 in Nelson County and was the daughter of the late Ernest Palmer and Mary Mercer Broaddus Neal. Sue was a long time member of Saint Stephens United Church of Christ.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed boating on the Potomac River, attending Virginia Tech football games and traveling. She was the youngest of five sisters, who grew up in Charlottesville just behind the “Corner” of the University of Virginia. She attended Mary Washington College and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia, where she worked at the end of WWII as a Registered Nurse.

On June 11, 1946 she married Wade W. Menefee, Jr., who passed away on October 16, 2004. She is survived by two sons, W. Whitfield Menefee, III and wife, Sharon, of Mt. Crawford and W. Neal Menefee and wife, Ann, of Belmont, NC; two grandchildren, Dr. W. Chadwick Menefee of Raleigh, NC, and Claire M. Short and husband, John, of Charlotte, NC; two great-grandchildren, William Tyler Short and John Bennett Short of Charlotte, NC.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters. Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated and a graveside service will be held 11 am, on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Woodbine Cemetery with Chaplain Russ Barb officiating. Following the service a fellowship lunch will be held at Bridgewater Home.
