Obituary for Sue Smith Together Again Sue Smith of Millville has joined in heaven with her loving husband, James V. Smith. Sue passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, May 5, 2018, at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born and raised in Waterville, North Carolina to the late Jake and Annie (Gunter) Ball, Sue spent most of her life in Millville, moving there when she was 16 years old.
Sue worked over the years at Ashfield Hosiery Mill, Wheaton Glass Co. as a packer and then went on to work at the Aims Training School in Vineland as a house parent. Sue attended the First Assembly of God in Millville. Crocheting, plastic canvas, reading the bible, playing cards, doing puzzles, and reading were among a few of Sue’s favorite activities that she greatly enjoyed throughout her life.
But most of all, Sue treasured her time that she shared with her family. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and granny who devoted her life to her family. Sue will be sadly missed by three sons, Robert J. Smith and Frank D. Smith of Millville and Larry Smith and wife Priscilla of Georgia; three daughters, Sharon S. Sampson of Millville, Debra A. Gibson of Millville, and Connie L. Tiptjew and husband John of Florida; step daughter, Alice Smith-Moore of Delaware; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Helen Ball of TN.
She was predeceased by her husband, James in 2006; two sons, Howard D. Smith and Charles L. Smith; son-in-law Robert E. Sampson, Jr.; five brothers; and four sisters. Funeral Services for Sue will be conducted on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. There will be a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
