Obituary for Sue Worley Vera “Sue” Couch Worley, 83, of Brownwood passed away on October 3, 2018, in Brownwood, Texas. Sue, the youngest of seven children, was born on July 10, 1935, to EJ Couch and Vera Pearl Derr Couch in Wichita Falls, Texas. She attended Matson High School and later earned a business school certificate.

At a young age, Sue accepted Christ as her personal Savior and not only lived a faithful life but also served as a genuine Christian example to those around her. She married Allen Wayne Worley on June 8, 1952. They moved to Brownwood in 1963 and made Brown County their home.

Together, they raised three children, Gary Worley, Carla Worley Lehrmann, and Sara Worley Killian. Throughout their 59 year marriage, the family grew to include a daughter in-law, Donna Worley, and two sons-in-law, Rick Lehrmann and Ken Killian; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her happiest times were spent surrounded by family.

She loved to cook and celebrate holidays. “Sue-Sue” was a highly competitive game player, never “letting” someone win, even a grandchild. She enjoyed playing volleyball as a teenager and into her adult life.

She loved playing bridge and watching her Texas Rangers. Sue has been a member of First Baptist Church of Brownwood since 1963. She was active in the Butler Sunday School Class for many years.

Together with Wayne, Sue volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Good Samaritan Industries and the Brown County Fair Association. Professionally, Sue enjoyed working with the patients at Dr. John Humphrey’s office for many years. Later, she worked in the banking industry as administrative assistant to the president.

She also served as the secretary to the board of directors. She retired from Texas Bank in the late 1990s. After retiring, she enjoyed working at 4 Corners and traveling.

Sue was preceeded in death by her parents, five brothers and one sister, and her husband, Wayne. She is survived by her children, Gary Worley and wife Donna of Brownwood, Carla Lehrmann and husband Rick of Katy, Sara Killian and husband Ken of Sachse; her grandchildren, Jennifer Worley Salyards and husband Daryl of Stephenville, Janet Worley Ogden and husband Alan of Blanket, Brian Lehrmann and wife Kirsten of Trophy Club, Meagan Lehrmann Ong and husband Justin of Houston, Parker, Blake and Cole Killian of Sachse; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
