Susan E. Brock, 62, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. She was born in Naples, Italy, June 18, 1956 to Billie and Elaine Goodell while her father was stationed there at the naval base. Six months later, the family returned to the states and homesteaded in Jacksonville, FL where she resided until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Brock, her mother Elaine Phillips and father, Bill Goodell. She is survived by her brother, Larry Goodell, sister-in-law, Beverly Goodell, and niece, Denise Goodell in Jacksonville and her aunt, Margaret Castine, in Alabama. After graduating from Ed White High School, she met the love of her life, Stephen, at a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert and they were married shortly after.

Susan had a career with the City of Jacksonville. Upon retirement, she and Steve moved to Port St Joe until his untimely death in 2007, at which time she returned to Jacksonville. Susan loved all animals, especially dogs, and was an avid rhythm & blues and rock & roll fan.

She was also a passionate ‘BAMA fanatic. If you told her “we’re going snapper fishing in the morning”, she would be up at 4am with rod in hand. She was always up for a fish fry and oyster roast (and don’t forget the fried green tomatoes).

She was a member of Murray Hill United Methodist Church, where she met dear friends and enjoyed visiting shut-ins and baking for them. She had a big heart and was generous to a fault. She will be greatly missed and always loved in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Jacksonville Memory Gardens chapel, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL 32073 with visitation there at 1:00 pm the same day. Those who so desire may make donations in Susan’s honor to The Humane Society, any animal rescue association of choice or Northeast Florida Community Hospice. Susan will be laid to rest at Jacksonville Memory Gardens with her husband, Steve, and mother, Elaine.
