Suzanne Berry Bruckner, age 88, of Highland Circle died at her beloved country home on Monday, May 13, 2019. Suzanne was born in Queens, NY, on August 26, 1930, daughter to the late Edward A. and Gladys (Skadden) Berry. She spent her childhood years in Queens, Baldwin, NY, Soleburg (Bucks), PA, & Ardmore, PA.

She received her RN at the Nursing School of Pennsylvania Hospital, where she met Karl Theodore Bruckner, then a student at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. They married on September 9, 1954, and raised their family in Haverhill, NH, where she found her second love in antiques and all things ‘old’. She developed a career as an antiques dealer and furniture restorer, operating her antiques shop, ‘The 1812 House’, from her home in Haverhill.

As her business grew, her interests expanded into home design and restoration; she was recognized for her work with two features in Country Living magazine (1987 and 1998) and a feature in Country Accents magazine (1993). In 1980 she launched an ambitious project to relocate, build and restore a historic house on a plot of land in Lyndonville she acquired in an antique trade. The plot was a woodlot with a view overlooking Willoughby Gap; the house was located in southern New Hampshire.

After her husband’s death in 1994, Suzanne moved to the Lyndonville house and transformed her antiques business from retail to wholesale. The restoration project became a labor of love and creativity, transforming the home into a beautiful estate with a fine example of a period post and beam home, stunning grounds, and a view that frames Willoughby Gap over a serene duck pond. Very artistic and creative, Suzanne painted in oil, watercolor, and pastels.

She crafted original hooked rugs with designs that reflected her home, Vermont, her children and her grandchildren. She is survived by her companion, Joe Martin, of Lyndonville, 2 sons: Jeffrey Bruckner (Willa) of Maplewood, NJ, John T. Bruckner (Carolyn) of Barnet, VT, 2 daughters: Nancy J. Bruckner of Safety Harbor, FL, Lisa Anne Bruckner of Lighthouse House Point, FL, daughter-in-law: Eileen Bruckner of Reading, MA, brother: John Berry (Doris) of New Town Square, PA, 10 grandchildren: Joshua Bruckner, Zachary Bruckner, Matthew Bruckner (Heather), Emily Bruckner, Allyson Moore (Larry), Alexander Bruckner, Andrew Bruckner, Julia Bruckner, Jarvis Idowu, Kayle Anderson, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Karl in 1994, her son Mark in 2017 and her sister Nancy Hughes in 1984.
