Takeshi “Kawa” Kawamoto March 20, 1932 – March 17, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Takeshi “Kawa” Kawamoto, 86, of Papaikou, HI, died at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home on Sunday, March 17, 2019. He was born in Papaikou, HI and was a retired diesel mechanic with the former Yamada Transfer. He was also a member of the Papaikou Hongwanji Mission, UsTOO East Hawaii, ILWU Hilo Pension Club, Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home Adult Daycare, and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Friends may call at the Dodo Mortuary chapel on Monday, March 25, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, where a Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 PM. Friends may also call at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2 on Wednesday, March 27, at 9:00 AM for a graveside urn committal services. The family requests that casual attire be worn to the services.

He is survived by his: Wife, Shigeno “Shirley” Oba Kawamoto of Papaikou, HI; Sons, Floyd (Lauren Oie) Kawamoto of Hilo, HI and Earl Kawamoto of Papaikou, HI; Daughter, Lois (George Makua) Giraud of Hilo, HI; Brothers, Tsutomu Kawamoto of Hilo, HI and Raymond (Diane) Kawamoto of Hilo, HI; Sisters, Mitsuko Tomono of Volcano, HI and Masako Shimasaki of Hilo, HI; granddaughter, Karissa Giraud; grandson, Keanu (Erika) Giraud; one great grandson; brothers in law, sisters in law, cousins, nieces & nephews.
