Theodore Robert Homchick Wenatchee, WA Theodore Robert Homchick passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Ted was born on August 11, 1923, in Aberdeen, WA, to Walter and Natalia. Walter and Natalia both emigrated to Aberdeen from Warsaw, Poland, through Ellis Island, where the spelling of his last name was changed from Chomczyk to Homchick.

Ted graduated from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen in 1941. He first attended Central Washington University on a basketball scholarship. Ted then joined the Navy and served as a radio man, from 1943-1945, on five different ships, including the Battleship Nevada.

After his military service, he attended Washington State University and graduated with a degree in accounting in 1949. Ted was a member of Phi Kappa Fraternity. After graduating from college, Ted relocated to Wenatchee, WA, and started working for C. W. Franklin Accounting.

He passed his CPA exam in July 1950, and continued practicing at the same firm, which is currently known as Homchick, Smith & Associates. He retired in 1988. Ted met his first wife, Phyllis, on a blind date.

The couple married on August 21, 1950, at Saint Mary’s Church in Aberdeen, WA. During his 69 years in Wenatchee, he was a member of BPOE, Wenatchee Golf & Country Club, Exchange Club, Wenatchee Valley College Foundation Board, United Way (past president), Wenatchee Chamber of Commerce, the American Legion, and S.C.O.R.E. Ted was an active member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. He also enjoyed softball, golf, bowling, and coached Little League Baseball for many years.

Ted was a loyal WSU Alumni and an active Cougar athletic supporter. During his retirement years, he continued to enjoy traveling, playing poker, and entertaining his grandchildren. Ted is survived by his first (and only) wife Phyllis; and his three children: Craig (Maureen) Homchick of Wenatchee, WA, Anita (William) Harbour of Olympia, WA, and Robert Homchick of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren include: Ryan Homchick of New York City, NY, Julie (Ragan) Crowe of Seattle, WA, Michael (Erin) Harbour of Olympia, WA, Lisa (Matthew) Carrell of Olympia, WA, Theodore Homchick of New York City, NY, Natalia Homchick of Lexington, VA, and Robert Homchick of Chicago, IL; four great-grandchildren: Silas Crowe, Joni Crowe, Charlotte Harbour and Alice Carrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Natalia Homchick; and his brother, Richard Homchick. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, 625 S. Elliott Ave. , Wenatchee, WA.
