Theresa M. Gootee, age 81, of Elwood, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018 at the Majestic Care Center in Connersville. She was born in Elwood on March 8, 1937, to the late William A. and Clara (Fowler) Gootee. Theresa retired in 1991 from Guide Lamp Corporation where she worked for 36 years.

Prior to her time at Guide, she worked as a nurse’s aide for several years at Mercy Hospital in Elwood and St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo. Theresa was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood and a member of the United Auto Worker’s Union # 663. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends.

Theresa is survived by her son Kevin wife Teena) Gootee of Lake City, FL, 2 grandchildren, Tyler M. Gootee of Orlando, FL and Nikki Esparza of Phoenix City, AL, 3 great grandchildren, Drevin Esparza, Karli Esparza, and Coleson Esparza. and several nieces and nephews. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Betty Sollner and Phyliss Gootee, and a brother, Jack Gootee .

Theresa was cremated and she will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood on her birthday March 8, 2019. Theresa’s arrangements were entrusted to Dunnichay Funeral Home. Online condolences can be given at www.
