Obituary of Theresa Hoffman Theresa F. Hoffman, 91, of Campbell Hall, NY, entered into rest Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY, after a brief illness. Theresa was born April 24, 1926 in Campbell Hall, NY, the daughter of Stephen J. and Catherine Fitzgerald Flannery. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Walter Hoffman of Goshen, in 2009.

Theresa received her Registered Nursing degree from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Newburgh, NY, and affiliated at Columbia University School of Nursing in NYC. She was a graduate of Washingtonville High School. Before her retirement, Theresa was employed for many years at the Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center in New Hampton where she served as an Administrative Nurse.

She was a member and past Grand Regent of the The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Church of the Assumption in Maybrook. She is survived by her beloved sister, Margaret McGinnis of Cornwall-on-Hudson, and her beloved sisters-in-law, Joan Flannery (wife of her brother, Francis) and Karen Flannery (wife of her brother, Michael) of Campbell Hall. She is also survived by her children and their spouses: Nancy Hoffman and Peter Schmidt of Manhattan; Mary and Bruce Estrella of Marston Mills, Cape Cod, MA; Charles and Sally Vriesma Hoffman of Port Crane, NY; Carol and Fred Hoffman-Budde of Goshen; and Jane and Gary Esposito of Goshen; and by her loving grandchildren: Brandon Estrella and his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Tocci Estrella; Elyse Estrella; Melissa, Emily and Thomas Esposito; and by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and all of their children, about whose happiness and success she was most avidly and devotedly concerned.

Theresa was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Agnes Hoffman Renna; by her brother Robert, killed in service in Luxembourg just after the World War II Armistice; by her brother Francis (“Fig”) Flannery of Campbell Hall; by her sister, Catherine Flannery DeGroat, and Catherine’s husband, Arthur; and by her brothers, John Flannery and his wife, Ann, of Rock Tavern and their sons, John Robert and Dennis; Dr. James Flannery and his wife, Regina, of Newburgh; Thomas Flannery and his wife, Jane, of Downsville, NY; and Michael Flannery of Campbell Hall; and by her brother-in-law, Glen McGinnis, of Cornwall-on-Hudson. Visitation will be Monday, April 23 from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY 10924. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 71 Murray Avenue in Goshen, with dear friend of the family, Father George LaGrutta of St. Benedict’s Parish in the Bronx, officiating.

Burial will follow in Wallkill Cemetery, 160 Midway Road, Middletown, NY. Theresa’s family gives thanks for the support of the network of family members, friends, church and medical professionals whose care made such a difference in the best and worst of days. In honor of Theresa’s memory, the family encourages donations to the The Parkinson’s Foundation and to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties.
