Therese’s Obituary SHERBURN: A Mass of Christian Burial for Therese H. Hlavka, 58, of rural Sherburn, will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Jackson, Minnesota with Father Jonathan Fasnacht as Celebrant. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Jackson, Minnesota. Therese was called to her eternal rest on Wednesday afternoon, January 16, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society, Jackson Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Church of the Good Shepherd in Jackson, Minnesota. There will be visitation one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the Church. Services were entrusted to the care of the Kramer Family Funeral Home.

She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake, Minnesota. Therese received her first-sixth grade education at the Silver Lake Catholic School. She graduated from the Silver Lake High School in 1978.

Therese married Frank Hlavka on July 14, 1979 at the St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church. They made their home in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She worked various jobs before moving to Jackson, Minnesota for Frank’s employment in March of 1985.

There Therese worked as a daycare provider, office receptionist and bookkeeper until she joined Frank in their business, Jackson Crop Services Inc., which was started in 1995. Frank and Therese were blessed with two children, Tracy and Justin. Therese enjoyed spending time with family and friends and relaxing at their lake home on Fox Lake.

The highlight of her life was becoming a “Mema” grandma! Therese passed away on January 16, 2019 from a courageous battle with cancer. Therese is survived by her daughter Tracy (Jed) Hesebeck of rural Jackson, Minnesota, and son, Justin (Danielle) Hlavka of Marshall, Minnesota.

Grandchildren: Andrew, Erik and Isaac Hesebeck, Olivia, Noah and Violet Hlavka. Her dad, Simon Shimanski of Silver Lake, Minnesota, mother-in-law: Adeline Hlavka of Silver Lake, Minnesota, her siblings, sister, Genny (Roger) Lhotka of Hutchinson, Minnesota, Gladys (Mike) Carter of Hutchinson, Robert (Sue) Shimanski of Hutchinson, Ron (Mitzi) Shimanski of Silver Lake, Doris Jerabek of Silver Lake, John (Rosie) Shimanski; brother-in-law, Bill (Diane) Hlavka of Silver Lake, sister-in-law, Kathy Nowak of Hutchinson, Sue (Chuck) Smykalski of Silver Lake; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Therese enjoyed spending time with her dog, Petey and cats, Moe and Murphy.

She loved to decorate and be creative and had a good eye for design. Going camping, working in her flower garden or going for a pontoon ride were special to her. Therese was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in May 2014, her mother Dolores Shimanski in March 2015, a grandson, paternal and maternal grandparents, father-in-law: William Hlavka and brothers-in-law, Mike Hlavka and Dale Jerabek and other relatives.

Therese prefers memorials be given to Good Shepherd Church in Jackson or the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
